We've enjoyed an unseasonably mild Fall here in Wisconsin up until about a week ago, and today again our temps are in the 70's. While I will not be one to complain about warmer temps and sunshine, I will admit that it has been a little hard getting in the spirit of harvesting pumpkins and Halloween festivities.
The kids enjoyed probably one of the quickest pumpkin harvests to date, but for a good reason as we all had to get ready for Jimmy and Kaelyn's big day. This past weekend my nephew Jimmy welcomed his new bride Kaelyn into our family, marking the first 3rd generation member to get married in our family. The day truly was surreal because it seems like just yesterday Grandma Ruth and I were heading to the hospital to see him for the very first time. I can remember the conversation clear as day, Jimmy weighed 11 pounds when he was born and Grandma was adamant everyone understand the magnitude of that weight as a newborn. I was 13 years old when Jimmy was born, so in some ways my older nieces and nephews were like the younger siblings I never had. I have had the privilege of watching them grow into such amazing human beings, and in the process my own children have had the privilege of having some pretty wonderful role models in each of my nieces and nephews.
(my parents and their 12 grandchildren ranging in age 4-25)
